Papua New Guinea is an Oceanian country that lies on the eastern half of the New Guinea and has offshore islands in Melanesia. The capital of the country, Port Moresby is located along its southeastern coast. This country has diverse cultures. This place has a population of over 7 million people and 852 known languages with various cultures, plants and animal species, and mesmerizing landscapes.

In such a small country of Papua New Guinea, there are more than 852 Languages. Language changes at a very short distance. About 12 Languages have lost their speakers.  There are official languages such as Tok Pisin, English, and Hiri Motu.  English is spoken by only 1 to 2 percent of the people.

Port Moresby, the capital and largest city of Papua New Guinea is famous for PNG National Museum for its’ anthropological collection. The museum also has an Art Gallery that is especially known for masks and carved wooden poles. The Parliament House is exhibited as a house of worship with traditional and colorful mosaic art displaying national motifs. Another must visit places in the city is the Paga Hill and Port Moresby Harbour.

Rabaul

Rabaul is a town in the island of New Britain, Papua New Guinea. It was a provincial capital before it was burned down to ashes because of a volcanic eruption in 1994. The remains of the World War ll and the volcanic eruptions can now be observed as a tourist spot in Mount Tavurvur, Rabaul War Cemetery, Kokopo War Museum, and New Guinea Club & Rabaul Museum. The city derived its name from an old eroded volcano Mount Hagen which is 15 miles away from it. Mount Wilhelm and Mount Hagen Market are the most popular places in the city.

Lae

Lae is the second-largest city in the country and the capital of Morobe Province. It is lies in between the Highlands region and the coast. The city is famous for its’ beautiful and scenic beaches. Lae War Cemetery, Amelia Earhart Memorial, Lae Golf Course and Rainforest Habitat are also some of the places one must visit when in Lae.

Kavieng

Kavieng is the capital of the province of New Ireland and the largest town of the islands. This town lies in the northern tip of the islands at Balgai Bay. It is a trading and tourist spot and the main working port of New Ireland. The town is a very well known area for diving, scenic beauty and the ruins of World War ll in Kavieng Harbour and other Harbours as well.

Like Buddha says “The lotus flower blooms most beautifully from the deepest and thickest mud”, Papua New Guinea is a true example of the same. The ruins made this country a beautiful place to be, it was indeed a blessing in disguise.
